ABOUT THE EVENT

Station in Sofia was an amazing experience. We are so grateful and happy that we had the opportunity to get to know the Bulgarian culture, the beautiful city, its mysterious sculptures, the streets with the old-fashioned yellow trams, its hidden cafes surrounded by flowers, its knee-level shops, its clubs with great music and cool ambience, graffiti everywhere, cats and cyclists at 4am, random conversations (oh Freud...), new friendships, all the quaint explorations and simultaneous self-growth, plus really friendly people all around and the local artists whose work we absolutely LOVED! Big Thank You to our patrons, sponsors and partners who made it possible; Virus Advertising, La Prima Osteria, MB Production and the fantastic G8 Cultural Centre in Sofia! Thanks to the filmmakers who came and co-organisers Tyanita Skull and Savina Eliseeva THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Thanks to you STS continues to grow! And we invite all the underground international filmmakers to join us in this adventure and touring with our films around Europe!

Apart from the film screenings, we also organised discussions, photography exhibition, visited Sofia and had lots of fun.

ORGANISERS

Savina Eliseeva and Tyanita Gancheva

Once upon a time, in 2015, Savina Eliseeva and Tyanita Gancheva met in the mountains.

Literally. Destiny brought them together to create ideas, films and many other things on this planet.

Savina has years of experience in TV Production in Bulgaria and Europe, like “The Voice of Bulgaria”; “Survivor”; “10,000 BC”; “Vice” and many, many other projects. Tyanita, however, was her firs internship in the TV industry. In the process of working for “10,000 BC” Tyanita and Savina talked about working together on Tyanita’s graduation film. That’s how the love started. That’s how a real friendship bloomed.

The love was so passionate that Savina made her own fixers company “MB Production”, and invited Tyanita to work with her. So, if you, lovely people, need help with anything and want to film in Bulgaria, you can contact us. We are friendly and hard working people!

When Savina and Tyanita presented their film “Perunika” in Warsaw, they got inspired by Iga Stepien to go on an adventure together and organize “Station to Station” in Bulgaria. The idea of the festival is very unique and friendly, making connection to people all around the world.

THE CINEMA

Opened in 2014, Cultural Centre G8 is a private art house cinema and also a venue for special events related to the cinema and the wider world of visual and performing arts. G8 Cinema is equipped with three screening rooms, a hall for presentations, a small museum of cinema, a café and a garden, which in summer turns to an outdoor cinema (G8 Kino Dvor). Our mission is to promote film culture through a diverse selection and exhibition of high-quality films from all over the world. New releases, classics, independent, documentaries or shorts are part of our regular programme and of different cinematic events – festivals, film clubs and weeks, school screenings.
